The Women in Comedy Festival is very excited to have linked up with the 2017 Funny Women Awards this year to encourage more women to take part and provide a vital platform to develop and broaden the appeal of female comedy. Heats for the Funny Women Stage Award will be running throughout the festival with regional finals and charity final taking place in the new year.

Comedy shorts slots

Please email us info@womenincomedy.co.uk if you would like to apply for a comedy short slot. These slots are 15-20 minute slots paid on a door split basis. You do not need to fill out a submission form to book in for comedy short slots. You will be matched with two other acts and the door takings and submission fee will be split between the three acts, each performing 15-20 minute slots during and hour long show.


To register for a comedy short slot you will need to provide the following information;

• Your name / performance name

• Good quality image

A sentence about yourself, experience, style of comedy

Any website, your tube or social media links


We book comedy short slots the first two weeks of May 2016 and the finalise the slots at the end of July. We also announce some slots via our facebook group so if you are on FB you might like to join the Women in Comedy Performers group. The first few shows have now been announced and the full festival program will be released by September 2017. View our calendar here. The festival is still unfunded and is reliant on advertising, donations, submission fees and ticket sales from the launch event for running costs which are in excess of £150,000.
